Lower footpeg nerfbars for taller riders?

Hoping someone can help me out here. I race mx. I currently have a 2009 yfz450r with full gytr nerfs/heelgaurds. It feels cramped. I also have a 2006 yfz450 with AC nerfs/footpegs that is way more comfortable because they move the pegs down and back. Thinking about going with the either the AC's or rath monster pegs, can anyone tell me if the monster pegs are down and back? I called Rath but they didn't give me a straight answer. And do the ac's for the yfzr move their pegs as far down and back as the yfz?
Thanks in advance, Shaun

I own the Rath 44 series nerfs. They do lower the foot peg. I don't know the exact measurement, but what I picture in my head would be 1/2-1." I'll try to go out to the barn tonight and measure the stock foot pegs as compared to the Rath.

I am 6'4" with a 34" inseam and find the Raths a bit more comfortable than stock peg location. I use the Monster pegs & love them.

Okay. I remembered this time. The Rath 44 Series are 1/2" lower than stock. The measurement was from the horizontal center line of the mounting holes (foot peg to the frame) to the top of the foot peg. Rath's foot pegs are 3/16", at the most, back. Also, Rath's foot pegs are 1/2" narrower. The stock pegs are 2-1/2" and Rath's measure 2".

I had to change my riding style from my Achilles rupture this March, but I find the 44 series to be very comfortable & the Monster Pegs help in the turns. I feel more stable being able to throw my leg farther out on the nerf. Just my $0.02. Hope it helps.

The reason your R feels cramped probably has more to do with the seat height being lower than the older YFZ? A taller seat would fix the issue for you. Another option is +1 steering stem. Most of those are pushed forward an inch as well.

You have to be very careful in foot peg placement because it effects all handling characteristics of the bike. Especially in the air. I would think that you would only move the pegs back if the bike is traditionally nose heavy, which I doubt the YFZR is. JMO

Those GYTR nerfs have the pegs super low. A friend of mine has them on his bike and they droop a little. The nerfs dont curve up toward the outside like most aftermarket nerfs do so they tend to drag in deeper rutted tracks. Just some things i've noticed.

If the seat on my YFZR was taller, it would be god awful uncomfortable. The cramped feeling comes from the position of the stock pegs and the handlebars. I already added the GYTR nerfs that allowed me to lower the pegs 1 1/4". That alone made a difference in the cramped feeling. Now I will add a +2 stem and the bike will be set damn near perfect for me.

I only have the stock stem, but I put the bars in the +1 forward slots and it made a big difference. I am hoping to go to a +1+1 (like Ctown208). That would be ideal for me.

If you call any company they would (should) make them in +1+1. JB has made them +1+1, Walsh, etc. Websites don't always do a company justice. It's worth a call.
