Thought you guys might find this info interesting. This is my own personal bike with Hmf full system. Id like to thank Heather at hmf for getting me this great system. Killer power across the board. Goes to show the stock pipe isnt as good as you would think. So far its the best system ive tested on the ktm sx. This is before and after pipe. Both stock and hmf pipe tuned. Look at the big torque for only being a 477. Ill be doing a 450sx here in the near future. Ill post that graph also. Enjoy.

Ps. This bike rips!!!!!!!! :icon_biggrin:

I know I am very impressed with the power that the KTM motors have and IMO would make for a perfect arena cross bike/motor! Lots of low and mid on all the KTM motors, and now these dual cam motors are going to be power beasts that's for sure!

Thanks for sharing I always enjoy your informative and factual post! :icon_biggrin:

Side note: How or was the jetting affected any by the change in pipes?

It looks like he bumped up the main jet (162-175) and moved the clip (3rd position). Thats what it says on the graph anyway, might not be right but I'm guessing it is.

i wish ktm would stop naming their big machines as much bigger displacement than they really are....

people would always say: "well yeah, but its such a BIG engine, so what do you expect?!"

when in reality, they aren't as big as their name suggests[/b]

Is there another reason for this other than making it sound bigger than it is? The raptor 700 used to be such a smaller displacement and even the yfz450 used to be 440. I understand the Raptor just wouldn't be as neat as a 660 or w/e it was but you're right, ktm calling it a 505 is not right.

Yes there is a reason why KTM does it. See they had a motor cc size and called it that, then they changed most of the motor parts but kept the cc size the same, but 99% of the parts would not interchange.... so to keep confusion down with the old motor and the new design they gave the new design a new cc name.

LOL.... i think they do it because people like to say they have bigger everything than they really have......

funny how you NEVER see displacement designations go the OTHER way...... ever see anyone call a true 505 a 477..??

never....

marketing.....[/b]

Maybe its just a guy thing..... we all like to say that we have something bigger than we actually do! :mhihi:

Back in the 80's, the CR80's were an 82cc....very small difference though :icon_biggrin:

so you all think we will see more performance from the DOHC or SOHC quads?
