I would say you need it. The cooling system uses that to balance the level when hot or cold! Get a new tanks is my suggestion!

right it controls the coolant level by letting it "overflow" when its hot and sucking some back when cold, hense the two lines to check the level. I would just spend the few bucks and get a new one, what would be the point of getting rid of it?

 

you can run without it, you just need to check the level in your radiator more often. you save some weight by removing it but its not worth it for the type of riding you do.

unless you feel like taking the side panel off every time you go for a ride and check the radiator level, just get a new bottle

yeah you can ride without it, it's pretty much just for overflow. but keep an eye on the coolant. the yfz does'nt tend to over heat to much.

 

I thought about buying a aftermarket tank for my crf150r , for riding in the woods it over heat some , and spits the coolant out on the ground. they make a 8 oz bottle that will catch it , that you can install on a bike or quad.
