heavily modded 700 vs yfz

now i know there has been a lot of talk on here and arguments about these two and the first thing i would like to say is that (i love both quads, and i would buy them both, and i mean no disrespect) that said, im wondering how the 450's are keeping up with 700's

now i know ive seen a built 700 with heavily porter head,+2valves,stroked, bored, web cammed, 771 cc 110 octane runner, he whooped the crap out of me in a race, and that time i had a yfz with cam mod, and gytr slip on,
on 300ft times he ran a 5.3 and i did a 5.5, he also had the trailtech vapor, that he showed me his top end on that he did 92mph with a 15 36 gearing!

now what if a yfz was stroked 3 mils,or w/e, bored, to 98 or 100 mil, and head porting valves, cams, etc...would that touch a 700 modded in acceleration?

i know top speed the modded raptor would rape a 450, but they should both be beside each other to 70 mph, in my view, idk so im just wonderin.

my 450 only goes 85 mph clocked with my gps with 15 36 gearing and all the mods in my signature, and im wondering how to add more mph because i geared it to the max, now dont get me wrong. the thing will fly through the gears too in acceleration. i just hated the fron end coming up in 4th ad 5th gear with stock sprockets, i dont weight much but only 145-150

f350 is about 10000lbs
jetta roughly 3200lbs

raptor about 386lbs
yfz450 about 372lbs

i dont understand the metaphor. unless your not talking about weight.

you can make a yfz to run with the majority of the raptors. i have a dunner thats lightened up with a 501cc motor and it runs 4.9's n the 300'. there are a lo out there fasterthan the one im running along with a lot of motors that are bigger than mine. I would get which ever one you like more, the raptors have the potential to make more power but either one is going to take a tone of money to make fast.

my point is that engines are designed in different ways, it doesnt have everything to do with CC's, or just size, there are many more things that go into it. a yfz is built to fly, and it does so, but to fully build one will only get you so much further, a raptor, although its much bigger, doesnt have the same performance build into it, although when you start to fully build a raptor, it starts to pull away from the yfz, but this is purely in a drag race aspect, it would be very hard to build a raptor to compete with a yfz in a track setting.

oh trust me, you will need a lot of benjamins to outperform a yfz on the mx track,, naw m only talking about drag racing...thats all i care about mostly anyways. im just wndering if you guys have any more ideas to add mph on a yfz besides gearing. im geared to the max, i dont think they sell a 16 tooth front sprocket, if they do ill spend a lot of time looking for a casesaver to match that lol,

thats the only sad thing that dissapoints me is knowing that my 450 tops out at 85 fully geared, with 20's on the back, now i know if i put 22's on the back ill go a little faster, but they dont have 22' slicks

yea you get can get a 16 tooth, and also a 17 but you need to grind your crankcase a bit, just dont run a case saver.... keep your chain tight and make sure your back sprocket isent bent and you will be fine. if it goes, then its just a reason to make a 501 or bigger.! are you sure you cant get 22" slicks? im not sure about it but you may be able to swap out the tranny gears for the one in the WR motor, thats for nroad off road and have different gears, so probably faster. check that out maybe. not sure if it will work tho

oh they make a 35t rear. look at the venders on here someone will have one. Also look into hoosier tires and 10'' wheels, and use 10'' trailer tires for on the front.
get a kickstart kit and strip off all the wires you wont need. that will shave weight.
then find a midget to race it and you'll hit 100mph

i ran a 8.40@90mph in the eighth with cam mod. jetting, hmf ballance exhaust and custom intake. and a 22 shot of nitrous. 15-38 gearing.

thats like a 5.4 in 300'

but i have since got a engine with wr crank falicon rod and 13.5 piston, cam mod ported head. and override tranny. and added a +5 swing arm. with 15-38 gearing and its tons faster from just racing the same people i raced before. but i havnt taken it to any real races with times yet.

its faster now with the new engine all motor. than it was with the nitrous on the stock engine.

X2 to much mph for that time my bike ran a 7.8 1/8 mile, 1.6 60ft at 80mph.

you can gear it to run w.e. u want with custom sproket hub in the rear. but here is no pointin going 100mph if it takes you 2 miles 2 reach that speed...... depends what you want... idk about you guys but i dont see pont in tellig someone hey i'llrace you till i top out... run a set distance and se how fas u can ake it there (ie. 1/8mile, 300', hill shooting, etc)

raptors have more potntial i the power department however there biggest prob is that they areheavy and hard 2 shave weight off of them...

I have a 06' YFZ and when it was stock I would smoke Raptors all day long. Now i have about $8,000 525cc now. I haven't found a Raptor that could keep up with me for a medium distance. but i'm a tooth smaller in the front. I can give them a start catch them and pass them but eventually they are just behind me holding steady, i'm running a aftermarket CDI and so i can rap a few more RPM's. It all depends on the gearing on a full out top speed but short Shots, YFZ all the way for me.

i have a 06 and stock with cam mod i did a 8.8 at 71mph. annd ai raced raptor 700s with stuff done and i would rape them. and yeah u have to strap ur quad down from the front allot so it doesnt lift up. and with a 16 tooth sprocket u will be perfect i have a 15 and moving to 16 next and yeah i weigh about 140.

also going to the track this friday after a few mods will let u know what happens. and yeah stick to a yfz

Find a midget! That made me laugh!

well yea you can make the raptor almost double the displacment., and run the same "style" of engine" being high revving with extreamly good head flow ect,
and only weighing approx 50 lbs more im assuming both lightened...

im surprised no one has tried to fabricate a kickstart for a raptor for drag racing,,, itd save a ton of weight and rotational weight also... obviously pretty hard to start but whatever, you could also even make it start off an impact gun if it was just for racing!
