so far barkers looks like the winner, i would like to see FMF, and the trinity pipe
hey guys im new here but check out my about me part of my profile. I got a 2009 yama dogg yfz450r. I got some impressive numbers that are unbeatable i think. my quad was dynoed by janssenn motorsports in Kaukauna, WI, with just the full system GYTR it dynoed at 47 hp, with 31ft lbs torque. Then I got a power commander on it and I got 49hp and 33ft lbs of torque. If anybody wants the print out on that I will post it if I have too! LOL! Anyways I have 3 tanks of gas through it and I wanna sell it. I will make a list on the classifieds for you guys its pretty sweet.
The only way this could be fair is to post up altitude were tested. I live at 6300 feet and know I aint getting no 38-40 hp stock. The guy with 47 night be at sea level and yosh might be at 5000 feet. But put that yosh at sea level and watch numbers go up!

Did you have anything done with air filter, box and or lid removed at time of dyno?
Also, you need to take into consideration that each dyno is different. It's good to see posting of the stock dyno numbers, but that variation could be a result from the individual bike or individiual dyno. So these numbers, also in conjunction with the sea level are all relative. But hopefully, there will be a wide range of numbers as time goes on.

the air box lid was off at this time. the weather here is 32 degrees and yes i realize every dyno is different but i figured i would let you guys know what i did. I am aware of all the different variables

I wasn't necissarily talking directly to you, just in general. People tend to think that tuning is a bolt on not a science.
one thing to keep in mind is the VERSION of the Winpep software
Winpep 7 is known to read less optimistically than the older versions
what did the 47HP quad dyno all stock? (my guess would be around 43 on that dyno)

anyway..
here is the Dyno sheets from the Barker install

I don't have the stock run on this computer but it hit 40 HP bone stock
I can scan that sheet if need be

Run 1:
Barker exhaust ONLY!
air box lid ON all stock otherwise

Run 14
we installed the Powercommander 5 and adjusted the fuel mix
it still isn't perfect.. but MUCH closer
and we hit 45 HP exactly
all of the runs between 1 and 14 were right in the mid to high 44 hp range
but we were tweaking the fuel mix

Run 15
all we did here was add the quiet core
no further adjustments
we couldn't read the fuel curve because of the spark arrestor
notice the torque drop

soon, it goes back to the dyno to try the PC5 auto tune module
will post the results

Here is the link to the Dyno sheet

i dunno much about quads these days, but the bike looks like its is slightly lean still. but the numbers look good
ya each dyno is diff barkers dyno is a little high it seems like.

and warp 929 u have a sparks??

No I have the stock exhaust. All we did was remove the spark arrestor and the air box lid. It almost seems like the stock pipe is making just about the same horsepower as the aftermarket. It's definitely not convincing me to spend $600 for a pipe unless I do some top end work too.
I haven't run a dyno in years but I remember always correcting the graphs for weather conditions and altitude. It was the only way to compare dyno runs from different vehicles in different locations. The corrections are not hard. I assume most of the variations are due to calibration issues with the dyno. I recently heard that some dynos do not need calibration but I find that very hard to believe.
Tim says his dyno reads low (due to the Winpep 7 software)

regardless, the quad gained 5 hp with the exhaust

Exactly. Which is not bad with the lid, what was he using to tune the A/F ratio? We are all media whores we want more vids!! :icon_biggrin:
I'm getting 42 hp right now, with the baffle out and airbox lid on. The problem is, if you put a pipe on without the power commander, you have no way of adjusting the air/fuel mixture properly.....so it really won't help to put a pipe on without the commander. You have to be able to adjust things properly to get the max power out of it....I'm not getting a pipe till I get that commander.
