Hey guys, so recently i had to change the steering bearing on my 09R. the lock was froze in there so i had to use heat and a huge bar to break it free. Upon doing so it screwed up all the threads in the little housing here above the bearing. Has this happened to anyone else? I've tried using a thread file and getting it to at least cross thread back in but no luck. the way i see it is i have 2 options.

Grind a lip so i can put a 42mm C Clip in there like a Honda has
Tack weld the lock in there and grind the tacks off if i ever have to do it again


This has definitely had to happen to others before

Same happened to me and I drilled and threaded two 1/2inch bolts into the nut to hold it in. That was about 2 years ago and still going strong.

did you have an issue where the bearing felt really loose mine has maybe 1/8th inch of play in the stem back and forth
