i noticed while putting my filter box back in after cleaning it, my intake tube has sand inside im not sure how it could get in there i had a foam uni filter and no airbox lid the filter isnt ripped anywhere. what could cause this and do you think it got all the way to the motor, i still havent checked the carb but im sure there sand in it too.

Hmmm that was a lot of help determining what his problem is huh :lol just kidding man. But I agree, I'd take the extra precaution and make sure sand didn't get anywhere else.

But where your clamps that held the filter on tight? Its possible that it was sucking air either there or where the intake tube clamps onto the carb

well im assuming sence it still runs the same as when i got it theres probly no damage done. when i last changed the oil it was clean hardley any metalic in it. that sucks though if i ever have to spend that much on this thing il just sell it and get a banshee

I reread your post. You said while reinstalling your air box.. Maybe it fell off the edges of the box while you were removing it and you didnt see it then..

Was the sand just on the edges or is it all the way up inside the intake tube... If it has been intruding for a while if you rub your fingure throughout the inside of the tube it will come outdirty...

when my dad came home i went out and reached in almost to the carb where the tube gets small and there doesnt seem to be any all the way up. the intake clamp that goes to the box was held with a zip tie im thinkin it wasnt holding it tight enough. the oil from the filter i think is what saved me it made it all stick in the big opening, not down inside im goin to take the carb and tube out and clean them good il find a bolt for the clamp and hopefully i wont have this problem again. also thinking mabe spray some filter oil in the tube just in case

im going to strain my oil when i change it and if i see sand i guess il have to tear it down, crappy thing is il have to pay someone to rebuild it ive never done it before and my dad doesnt want to try doing it ourselves. so if i do have to rebuild it i rpobly wont be riding this season, i dont have the money to rebuild it and wont for a long time. but like i said its not all the way up the intake tube so im really not too worried now as when i first noticed it. this thing is starting to cost me way too much money after doing all these repairs, the banshee is starting too look better and better, simple to rebuild and cheap alot more power for the money. just to get it ready to ride il have another 400-500 in it.

i thought about it and you wouldent see sand period unless it was blown up and got past the rings somehow. if any sand went in it would go out the exhaust valves, wich would most likley mess up the valve seat or whatever its called.
