you have sand in your oil?
thats terrible. no joke.
are you sure?

^do you think if he just pulled the clutch cover he would be able to check for both?
that way, it takes less time and he can check for sand in and around the clutch as well as check the clutch for wear and tear damage.
but you will still need a new gasket for the clutch cover.[/b]
ya, those are good points.i said pull the valve cover and oil filter because the cams up top should be pretty sterile except for oil, usually its really clean, and the gasket is re-useable, if you see a ton of dirt, well....
and the oil filter should have a large amount of sand if any got in the system. its hard to imagine sand getting through the carb, then past the rings/valves, but i suppose it could.[/b]
what i want to know is that even if sand got in ur carb and then went though ur intake and made its way into the combustion chamber, how would it end up in ur oil in the first place? did u check the black box by ur coolant over flow for sand becuase thats the breather for the crankcase, and if theres sand in and around there then it could easily be in ur oil.ya, those are good points.
uhfliction - for the most part, your bike will still run fine if there is sand in it. you probably wouldn't reallly notice anything different until its waaay too late.[/b]
