Rebuilding A Dezert Quad

I have a 2005 YFZ 450 that is build for dezert racing. with over 10,000 race and prerunning miles on the quad it is due for a major over hall. i would like to start rebuilding the quad next month, so i have to start figuring out what has to be replaced and make a parts list. i dont have the money to consult a professional mechanic so i was hoping that i can find some help here. so with over 10,000 rough miles on the quad what parts should i expect to have to replace? what bearngs have to be re-greased or replaced? should i replace the swing arm carrier or just the bearings? what should i do about the crappy electrical harness that is alway shorting out and causing problems? i know there is a lot of things that i am missing so if you guys can help me out that would be great!!!! i am trying to get my quad back to a reliable condition so i dont have to worry about anything breaking when im in the middle of baja. thank you for your help!!!

also i am aware that 2005 YFZs are known for having that problem with the wrist pin not being lubricated properly causing some really bad damage at times. is this a modification that i should consider?
Thanks!
with that kinda mileage, i would strip it down bare, go over the frame looking for cracks, get new bearings everywhere... new bushing for the front end, new bearings for the swingarm and axle, check the carrier for wear, and replace if needed. if your going to do a rebuild on the engine, it couldnt hurt to upgrade to the 07 oil pump and add the squirter, it would be a good time to have your head re worked too.
unless you are getting a very good deal i would look for a different bike that is alot of race miles for a bike and you will spend a far amount of money very quick, just my opinion.

im with ^^^^^ on this 1 that kind of abuse will cost u more 2 rebuild than buying another bike.
i just did piston, porting, exhaust, and i was out almost a grand!!! u can pick up an 05 for prob. 3k!!!!!
Time for a new bike... 10,000 hrs. on any type of bike or quad is insane. Everything needs to be replaced. You would be alot better off just finding another quad it would take too much time and money to get it back where it needs to be.

The quad has 10,000 miles on it, the bike has seen a lot of extremely hard miles in the past, including five Baja peninsula runs from TJ to cabo. the engine is great condition, i installed a brand new 2006 yfz motor in it after i blew up the original engine at right around 8500 miles. so the motor is in good condition and can go at least another four thousand miles. but chassis itself is not in good condition, the frame is rusted and cracked in multiple place and the bike squeaks and makes all kinds of annoying noises(its probably all the bearings and bushing about to give out). so besides the bearings and bushing needing to be replaced, is there anything else on that chassis or suspension that i should replace?
Thats my fault just a typo. If you could find a complete rolling chassis thats in good condition you would be ahead of the game if you bought it... If the price was reasonable. If not go ahead and replace the bearings, bushings, and seals and see what that does for you. Make sure you check every inch of the bike about three time over for cracks and stress marks and if you have a electronic angle measuring device go ahead and check the frame to see if its bent or not
I gotta agree with the other guys, you would be better off buying a roller or something like that and selling yours. Take all your desert parts off your bike, sell it for cheap, buy a new roller or something of that sort, and put the desert parts back on and away you go.

But if you are not set on that idea and want to go through it, I'd tear it down to the frame. and when putting it back together, inspect EVERYTHING as you put it back on. But i think parts will add up fast this way.

whatever you want to do
if the frame has visible cracks in it, i would consider getting a replacement, you could weld it up, but chances are the welds wont hold up as good as a new frame. anything that is scratched or rusted, sand blast it, and powder coat it, again, any cracks should be considered as replacing if you have the money.
i would never tougth it would hold up that many miles... i wish mine would get that many..
