Rear Tail Light Problems?

Hey have a probalem I just wired up a 06+ clear tail light to my 04 and I matched the colores. And when I turn the key with motor off light goes on but when I hit my brakes front or back it doesnt brighten or dim?? Its like it always real bright and wont dim?anyone no why??
