I have a 2006 yfz that started too die everytime I let off the gas. Not like it was running out of gas though. It would start and idle good then suddenly die like the motor got some kind of tension on it. Will start right back up and run for a minute then die. Battery was weak so i put a new one in. Still does it. Now it wont get any fire until I let off th start button then you can see 1 spark. It will start ooff the solenoid and get good fire but not the start button. Still dies also.

Mine was doing something similar. theres a small 18g black wire back by the the battery on the left side i think. it has a male/female connector. just make sure thats connected. hope that helps a little. good luck

sounds like a cdi possibly. Just ask a buddy with a yfz to start swapping electrical parts. Start with the easy to get to ones first tho
