Oil Line Screen Q's

Hey, ive been reading about the oil sreen(s). I understand that there is one screen that is going out from the reservior, and possibly another one on the end of the tube going to the engine that people often find aluminum shavings gunked up in. i would like to check this or those screen the next time i change the oil, but i am (obviously) confused. can someone clear this up for me? pics would be appreciated. :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin:

don't have any pics, but Its the bottom oil line that runs into the reservoir, it is the one with the screen on it. Other than that i don't think there is another screen.
i dont have pics, but the screen in question is located on the end of the line going from the bottom of the engine on the right side, into the bottom of the oil tank, its on the oil tank side of the line. when you drain your oil for a oil change, pull the line off (it can be a real pain to get the allen screws out of the oil tank)

and you will see the screen
its alot easier to take the oil tank and line out of the frame to check the screen
thanks for the responses... so there is only 1 screen?
k thanks. NO ONE TOUCH THIS THREAD EVER AGAIN!!!! I MEAN IT!!!!

hopefully that will save us alot of pain in the future, lol.

I touched it! I cleaned my screen out today. Put in a new motor after the old one locked up. Thought it would be a good idea to clean the screen. Here are a few pics. It is the line that comes off the oil resevoir with 2 allen screws. I agree its probably easier to get it off after taking loose the oil resy.

oh sweet, thanks for touching it again. NOW NO ONE EVER TOUCH THIS THREAD AGAIN!! lol
Bump TTT.......lmao, sorry!! I had to!!
i had too also. i "cleaned" my screen today. i put quotation marks around cleaned, because it was already immaculate. i found 1 spec of a fabric type material in it, but now i feel more secure about my engine's proneness to blow up. It also made me change my oil, which had about 10 hours on it. thanks all!
In response to the allen head screws being a pain in the @ss to work with, when you take them out to get the screen out replace them with hex head bolts, it will save a lot of swearing in the future.

so this screen is the one on the oil tank? do i need to pull the lines off the engine also???
no, just the lower line on the oil tank...
If you tip your quad up on the grab bar (gas off) i found it was very easy
