Nitrous Facts For Yfz - Any Knowledge?

1550 Views 15 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  ridin450
Having a hard time getting all of the facts on nitrous for my 2006 YFZ. It's got a full GYT-R exhaust, jetting, filter, and cam mod. Everything else is stock. Looking at a Cold Fushion wet system to spay a 10-20 shot. I sand drag at a local riding spot and I weigh 220 lbs. Due to the stock swing arm, will not spray until 3rd or 4th gear. Questions:

1) Will the stock clutch and trans live? Can I power shift it too?
2) Will the mtr live? (assume no detonation, I'll run 110)
3) Is the factory rev limiter a fuel cut off?
4) Anyone tried to hide a system, if so, how did you do it, any pics?

Any other tips would be great. I appreciate the help, have searched a lot and still coming of short on making the decision to purchase a kit.

Thanks!!!

there's a topic that shows a killer stealth setup in the venom performance section.
KBR would be the "go to" place for setup and info as i understand it..

Ordered a Cold Fusion system today, wet kit with 10, 15, 20 & 25 jetting.

Any advice is welcomed.
Colder plug is preferred.

Closer spark plug gap is wanted.

Start out small with the nitrous jets and work your way up.

A full throttle switch is preferred over a button in most cases.
let me know how it turns out bro!!!!
im curious 2 see how it turns out might be temped 2 do the same LOL
u do Have a programable ignition right?!?!?!
if not ur prob. gona need it

Thanks! Going to run a colder plug for sure. Also, plan to run 110 octane. Do you think it's okay to run stock timing with stock compression - 11.4:1? I am only gonna spray 15-20. Cold Fusion said it's fine, even on pump gas. I am not that brave, 110 should add some margin for error.

Still thinking about a button vs micro switch. I have a stock swinger, so the button might allow me to back off easier in a wheelie, plus, might only spray it after gear changes if wheelies are too bad. Just not sure yet.
I think the best bet for nitrous use is a programmable cdi, however in your case the stock cdi would be fine for that amount of nitrous. I've used the stock cdi for when I spray and all was fine. 110 will add a safety margine with the fuel, and the button sounds best for you right now.

If you are not careful you will need a brass jock strap and a basket for the parts also!If you don't understand you soon will.Good luck!

Why?

On cars, I have ran as much as 1400hp with nitrous and have never had it cause a failure.

This post was aimed and learning anything necessary to run it safely. I hope I have the list, if I am missing something please let me know?

well?h
i guess he thinks you're gonna blow it up. and the jock strap because you dont have as much protection as in a car.
Yeah, I figured, I was just wondering if that opinion was based on some kind of facts or just a gut feel.
I think you will be good but anybody that has fooled with nitrous will tell you ITS SAFE AS LONG ITS INSTALLED AND USED RIGHT. I have it on my car and love it but I took my time installing, tuning, and researching it. I would definitely start of at like 10HP though just to make sure it acts ok and is jetted to handle the leaner conditions. As far as activation Im a firm believer in WOT switches but the way you do it should be whatever is most convienent and comfortable to you.

Does anybody offer an affordable AIR/FUEL Meter???
