I Need A Good All Around Pipe

1674 Views 25 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  srxboy
I just got done putting together a smashed 06 yfz. It has an athena big bore kit, ron woods intake useing the air box, outerwares air box lid, and it had an old gytr pipe on it. The problem is where I ride its to loud and I read if you put the quiet cap on it really chokes the pipe up. So I am in teh market for a new pipe. I am leaning towards the new style gytr with the quiet insert. I do a lot of aggressive trail riding so I don't want just top end. I would like a strong low and mid but also not fall off up top. The current jet setup is: 170 main, 45 pilot, 2.5 turns out, and clip 4 on ncvq needle. Does this sound about right? Thanks

do a search. there are a million topics about exhausts and how they perform...

but id say gytr or hmf would be a good choice
i run the quiet tip on my gytr, it actually puts out the same power as my older carbon fiber oval gytr, i havent removed the cap to see what kinda kick it will add yet though. but im happy with the setup i have. its not really THAT quiet though, just a little quieter than others.
I think the new gytr would suit you well for what you want. I love mine buils insane low and mid and still has excelent over rev.
DR.D is a great low-mid exhaust might want 2 look into them.
i might have 1 for sale soon. PM me if ur Interested
just god rid of my older style DRD for the new GYTR

the DRD is a great all around pipe and quite frankly, one of the quietest around. i ran mine with a spark arrestor, no quiet core. it isn't nearly as loud as my new style GYTR or my buddies pipes. (Dasa, Yoshi, Jardine)
its a great pipe for trails, woods and dunes. i don't know how well it performs on a track, i never ride track.

what you are really looking for in my opinion is the older DRD. the one that came out right before the cone tip. (full system)

this is the DRD i had and sold:

here's the GYTR i got to replace it:

oh ya!
i have a hard time remembering everyone's names. i particularly can't remember anyone's names i deal with when i'm selling stuff. i end talking to so many people that i they all just end up being the same.

by the way. i sold mine for $185 shipped and it cost me $37 to ship it. i got completely ripped and the other dude got a awesome deal. don't sell yours for less than $200 shipped. unless its falling apart :p

i just shortied it not 2 long ago and had it polished so trust me im not selling for under $200
i just got a jardine RT-4 (more mid-top end) im doing more drag racing suff now so i needed the top end.
im going 2 miss that DR.D though. mine looks bad *ss!!!
If ur looking for bottom end power consider the dasa
dasa is like REDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!
great pipe though but given the current economic situation i think that might be on hold LOL
i havnt seen a used dasa go for under $350!!!
We have exhaust on our website between 10-20 percent off.

I've had a LRD on my YFZ majority of the time with no issues.

well there not that expensive for a full system, I got my for 500 and thats about what a full system costs and they are fairly new so that probably why they go for so much used

i thought they where more expensive new....
guess not. lol
my thing with dasa is the crapy customer service. and if somthing ever goes wrong it a mission 2 deal with them
i was under the assumption, not only from looking at it, but from what i've heard. its not a low end pipe. its a mid to upper.
focusing more on the upper side.
from what ive seen they dont do that great on the dyno thats all im saying.
NMotion(JSR) is the king from what ive seen.
and they look SICK!!!!

I have heard that two but when I got mine the core was bad in it or something and I sent it back to them and they fixed it for free and had it back to me within 2 weeks.
