I am planning on getting new Kenda Klaw tires and I am wondering how dropping from 20 inch wheels on the back down to 18's is going to effect my gearing. It would seem that the new tires would wind up a little faster than the stockers. I will only be running MX and would appreciate any help from those that have changed their stockers down to 18's. Will I need to change my sprocket size to run this size tire in MX?

( I already did a search and could not find anything)

Mxcop.
If you want the same gearing as before the change to 18"
I would go up 1 tooth on the front or down 2-3 on the back.
Otherwise like you implied it will need more gear changes.

I'm running a 38 tooth on the back now so are you saying I would need to drop to a 36 or 37 to stay the same?

i got a 15 on the front and i think it still revs up a little to quick. i know a gut that runs a 15 up front and 37 on the back and he says it works great.

Not sure of the exact calculation but I would go the 36.
I've just bought one.

Just put a 15 on the front if your dropping to 18's, that should work fine!
