I put 1qt in the oil tank and 1qt in the case. This leaves it a tad over full but it is fine

300cc's in the crank case and 1550cc's in the oil tank, 1850cc's total

And like they said, do not put a quart in each, that could have a bad outcome.

I just throw 1 and a half quarts in the tank & half in the case.

Straight from the Yamaha manual:

Oil quantity:
With oil filter element replacement:

Quantity in oil tank: 1.55L (1.64 US qt)
Quantity in crankcase: 0.30L (0.31 US qt)
Total amount: 1.85L (1.96 US qt)
