I have a high hanging idle issue on a bike. When the bike is cranked, I release the choke and it idles down. If I touch the throttle it hangs for a few seconds then eventually idles down. If I click it in gear it will also idle down when it has a load on the engine. It has a new throttle cable, fuel air screw and choke plunger. The slide doesn't seem to be roughened hanging up.....any ideas?

There is a rubber type o-ring on the slide (between the slide and the slide plate) on the carb ,check if its there, because mine disappeared(hard to believe I know) and it caused the idle to hang and once load was put on the motor it would go down. Hope this helps

I thought the coating on the slide was worn from sand and stuff.....but it looked good to me.

Another thing to check is your carb boots. If you have an air leak here it will cause this. I experienced this myself and all it was to fix was a quick tightening of the clamp and good as new

X2 ^ also forgot to mention , maybe check your exhaust header for leaks aswell, at the head

My filter fell off and dirt got in it and made the slide hang up. Needed a good cleaning.
