First off, I am about piss ignorant when it comes to electrical crap.

I am wanting to put some HIDS on my bike. I have seen people put them in the stock headlights, what all would I have to have in order to do that.

Im not positive but i think you might have to get a DC converter to run the HID's. You should be able to use the stock stator and stock light housing.

Heres another website you can check out HID Guy
I am not for sure about the DC conversion....(as I said above, I am ignorant when it comes to electrical) but I do know that the stock stator is weak and would need to be upgraded. I thought about a ricky stator.

Anyone running trailtech hids?

don't you need to upgrade the stator too? Are any of you guys running the stock stator with those kits?

ya my friend bought hid's for his raptor from the hid guy. he recommended him to me, thats how i found out about him.
When running an extra set of lights (HID), you do NOT need to buy a new stator, just modify your existing one. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I believe it was Baja Designs that I called and they directed me to their web site that shows how to modify the YFZ stator to run aftermarket lights. It took me about 30 minutes to modify mine. I am currently running Two 7inch HID's AND the two stock headlights (desert racer) and I have NO issues with the battery. I'll try to find the exact link to the web site.

Okay, I can't seem to find the site right now. Anyways, I DID have to buy a rectifier from the company to compensate for the stator mod. I believe it was about $40 dollars. It is my understanding that the YFZ's charging system is both AC and DC. HID lights only run on DC. Modding the stator will convert the entire system to DC and thus give the HID's enough juice to run them without killing the battery.

I would really like to see that link if you can find it. I am really lost when it comes to electrical crap on these bikes. lol I know that you need DC power for HID's and in stock form, the bike produces AC power.

I am certain, but going from what I have been told, the stock stator can only produce a certain amount of wattage. If you modify the stator to produce DC power, would you have to modify it to produce more power....??.......someone explain this crap to me. :wtf:
I found it!

Thanks for the link, man

Go to photobucket.com and create an account. Upload your photos and then you can share them.
code918 how many watts of power does the stock stator put out when modified?
I believe the stock stator puts out 26Watts DC and 55Watts AC. After modification, all 81Watts are DC.
sweet......I might be doing this mod this weekend, that's if I can get some time in the garage.
Also check out KBrown Customs. Kyle offers a lifetime warranty, has great customer service and fast shipping. HID's are his specialty. He stands behind his products 100%. I Highly recommend his products.

so the HIDguy sells xentec. why not buy them off ebay, 2 year warranty and cheap.
