First off yes I have read all the cam mod topics!

Just wondering if guys running gncc or xc/hare scrambles didn't like the cam mod.
Did it make low speed/low rpm sections tougher? Any low rpm power loss? Hot starts take longer? Thanks

I have an 08 w a hmf exhaust, run no air box lid,170 main/45 pilot, r&d adjustable fuel screw, quick shot 3 and it just perfect now I'm just on the fence bout doing the cam mod

Starting can be hard. Difficult or slow to crank over.

I disagree.Its all in the jetting and make sure your battery is good.Mine fires instantly and the Cam mod had No affect other than the bike runs so much better8)

My bike fires instantly now and runs perfect w 0 bog, according to my current settings do you think it will have to be changed

My buddy did it he didn't like it for GNCC. He went back to stock. I'm still at stock. From your list of upgrades.....get a rekluse it will change your XC experience dramatically.

Is it necessary to replace the basket when using a rekluse?

No. I still have a stock basket. New, but stock. My dampener on the back of the basket went and it was shattering clutch plates.

What -25% no way. If you have you rekluse set right you will come out just as fast in a turn. Also I pull hole shot all the time with a rekluse and cam mod.

For what it's worth, I did the cam mod on my '06 and it starts instantly every time. Won't cost anything to try it.

Haha he was kidding. It doesn't slpw you down in the corners. It's suppose to speed you up/help cornering.

I have been told from others it makes exit speed slower? What about initial take off?

I've noticed zero speed loss in cornering or taking off with reckluse...For xc racing it's almost the first mod that should be done in my opinion

By the way -25% slower IS faster !!

and 25 may not be enough

it pulls harder trough the rpm range, If you stall it while riding it hard you have to wait 10-15 sec before it starts up, will start instantly after that.
I did this mod to my YFZ when is was almost new so I am not sure if its worse or not.
