So not technically a “quad”, but I thought I’d contribute to the site.

I’ve thought about building something from scratch for years now. Neighbor’s kids race quarter midgets, I helped build them a circle track. I’ve went around that track more times on my Kubota tractor than the kids have. So I finally decided to build one.

Basics;
60”wide x 80”ish wheelbase, don’t have frame far enough along to determine exact length.
YFZ450 complete front end
Strait axle, swing arm suspension
Predator 15.8hp engine
Comet 44 magnum torque converter
22” Sunf tires on Douglas red dot rims
NRG seat and steering wheel
Various go kart parts, petals, sprockets ext
Many custom parts I’ve machined

Tire Wheel Vehicle Bumper Automotive tire

Swing arm was line bored for the 3/4” TG&P shaft, oilight bushings installed. AMI 1.25” pillow blocks on the axle end.
One note is I’m using 1.25” .120 wall DOM tubing. Chose this size for the tighter bends with on the bender and 1” round stock slides nicely inside the tubing for joining ext

Automotive tire Motor vehicle Hood Bumper Automotive design
Dad hated the shower of sparks off my Dewalt chop saw, so he found this on Amazon.
Basically a portaband mounted to a hinge, mini bandsaw. I was skeptical but the thing works great. One thing to note is that the rotation of the blade pushes the part towards the operator. Generally saws pull against the fixed part of the vice, not this one. No issues with it so far, does cut faster and cleaner than the chop saw.
