Couple Of Questions About The Stuff I Found Opening The Valve Cover.

Well today i decided to take the valve cover off to check the valves. (just bought a used bike and it starts alittle hard) So i pull it off and i notice it has the stock cam positions (cam mod not done), but then i see engraved on the cams Tc 924 on the exhaust and Tc 924 national on the other cam. Are these aftermarket, is there anyway to tell?

I also found out my valves are way to tight exhaust is .005 and intakes are all .003

can someone please help me out....basically am i gunna grenade the motor if i do the exhaust cam mod. I want to put it back together.
well u need to either buy individual shims form your dealer or get a shim kit to get ur valves in spec and even if the cams are aftermarket you can still do the cam mod, but dont put it back together until u get the valves in spec.
ya i know, alright thanks alot thats all i wanted to know

sounds like you have national TC cams[/b]

they any good...the marking are engraved by hand it looks like its not stamped in or anything.
from what i hear, builders usually engrave it all by hand, as its not a mass made product, you may even find they are re ground stock cams maybe
is there a way to see if it already has the cam mod done to the cam itself. cause i know some come with it actually done to the cam.
can you take a pic of the NOT cam chain side at TDC?

try to include a good pic that we can tell what angle the cam lobes are at. if someone else is in their engine could they also do the same and state if they have it done or not? this would help alot.

yes i will see what i can do
not this time cause im going riding this weekend but next time i do the valves ill probably end up buying stock ones and throwing them in. I dont like not knowing whats in the motor or what its doing. If you know what i mean.
i know what'cha mean. that would scare me. i assume you DID fix clearances though right?
i havent touched anything yet i put the cover back on for now so its all covered up and im gunna tackle everything tomorow , but ya im definatly gunna get that all done tomorow. Ill look at the pics of the cams with the covers off on here and look for myself to see if it looks different im almost positive there stock cams probably grinded or maybe just refinished or something by them.

I got all the receipts with the bike and theres nothing about cams just a rebuild and a bunch of other parts and maybe the guy just resurfaced them or something during the build.

I will still take pictures and throw them up but ill just got with my gut on it and spin the crank by hand, if i dont hear hiting, ill fire it up and see if theres a power difference.
