Backfiring On Decel

899 Views 10 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  DOZER520
So I threw on a Jardine RT-4 slip on and removed my airbox lid last week. She pulls hard as hell and has no bog at all but it backfires a little on decel.

Right now I have a 168 main, 45 pilot, and needle on the 4th clip. My A/F screw is just past 2.5 turns. I am at sea level.

From what I have read on here it sounds like I may be just a tad lean still. I am not sure what adjust from here though. I dont want to start adjusting things and throw it all out of wack.

Sorry for the typical Jetting questions... I am still a noob when it comes to four wheelers.

WTF is the leak jet? And where would I buy just the 35? I just know of the main, pilot, and the needle. Sorry for being such a dumb fukc when it comes to this stuff.
It's a little jet that sits in the bottom of the bowl. You can get them at the dealer or I think some of the site sponsors might have them.
I am running the jardine rt-4, 172 main 45 pilot, And 2.5 turns out 4th clip position no lid on air box, It will haul

full or slip on? any other mods?
Its a slip on called jardine they dont make a header for the rt-4.
Ok i got the slip-on a gytr air filter, Cam mod, And air fuel mixture screw
172 Main jet 45 Pilot 2.5 Turns out on the air fuel ncvq needle 4th notch down from the top. No poping runs strong.
the leak jet is also called an accelerator jet or somethin like it. it's out of a WR. the part number is 4JT-1494F-01-00
The leak jet would change the squirt of the accelerator pump. This is usually to help with the bog when you stab the throttle.

The popping on decel is from the pilot jet being too lean. Put a 48 pilot in and the pop will probably go away.
