its fine. My bro runs the second link stuff in his YZ250, its just for wet clutch applications but i havent used it once and my clutch grabs just as good as any other oil out there.
I would definitely get the motorcycle oil, They are made for small displacement high RPM engines. I ONLY run amsoil.

They have much less friction, better for your clutch, and keeps the foam DOWN that can be very harmful and is very common in these applications do to the high RPM and heat. I have much preferred this even over motul and yamalube..

Also I recommend 10W-40 motorcycle oil, but your will only get tons of back and forth opinions on 20W-50 or 10W-40 and I hate amsoil, I hate synthetic, I love this and that.. so I am not going to bother getting into it.. I run my ATV all year around from about 40 degrees to 105 and never had any clutch, foaming or overheating problems with the 10W-40. But may also be biased because I have never tried 20w-50,
So it's all up to you! Being oil is also much opinion..
I have tried many of oils only 10-w30 and 10W-40 and will not purchase another quart except Amsoil motorcycle oil 10W-40 :blahblah:

Why would you run oil they don't recommend? Do you know more about their oil than they do? Just run the motorcycle like they say you should - 0W-40 is great stuff.
heres what it comes down to... If your cheapin out on oil, your looki for trouble and a seized motor. But more expensive stuff and from a bigger name ex: AmsOil, Lucas Oil, Motul, etc. you are going to get better performance and a longer life out of your motor. Simple enough?
not true at all. i used to use amsoil when racing and had clutch slipage problems. It all comes down to what works best for you. Its trial and error just like everything else. and there will always be some one out there arguing his brand x oil is better than your brand y oil. Im not knocking amsoil, im just saying some may experience problems with even the higher end oils. They all break down different in in each indavidual condition, it depends on ridding styles and driving habbits.
Very true derek. I have had nothing but good luck with my amsoil.. But a friends of mine will not touch the stuff, or synthetic for that. He only runs regular yamalube and his motor is still as strong as when he bought it..
It does just come down to what you like and what runs good for YOU.

As far as running that amsoil regular oil compared to motorcycle oil in your YFZ?? Don't do it.
just get a oil made for ATV's (motorcycles)
Amsoil is the best overall oil you can buy. I'm 10w40 in my yfz
Been running the first kind in my YFZ since '04 Never had any issues. (20W-50)
here is a question i work at a honda dealer ( go figure) and i wanna kno if i can run full syn 10 30 honda oil in my yfz? i mean its made by mobil one. im just sayin cuz i get it at dealer cost and its cheap?
Honestly I wouldn't. Reason being that Honda is pretty much the only company that runs the motor oil and tranny oil separate.
Which is why you only use motor oil every time you change your oil. And honda users use Tranny fluid and motor oil.
Again why I wouldn't, the honda oil will work fine in your motor and lube all that, but as far as your clutch? It is not made to ever touch your clutch and may damage or wear it quick, or who knows, RUIN IT.

Does this make sense? I wish I could explain better.. Do they carry any other brands of full synthetic? Just stay away from the honda unless your using it for a honda because it won't have all the good stuff in it for your clutch because honda doesn't need their motor oil to ever touch their clutch.. and Yamahas and many others just use the motor oil for everything.
a lot of my buddies run the Honda oil in their yfzs. No problems. they tell me its better than anything else. I pay for the expensive crap. We all still ride together and no one has had any issues caused by oil. Use what suites you best. Because....no one is going to agree on one or the other.
The full syn. Honda motor oil has additives in it that are not designed for a wet clutch. The Amsoil MOTORCYCLE full syn. doesn't have these additives.
You just bought some far too expensive oil!
