Aftermarket Cdi, Yay Or Nay?

Hey guys I am trying to squeeze every bit of power out of my 450 thats left. I have heard before aftermarket CDIs arent worth it they dont do anything. But I have also heard on a big build they help a bit. I would like to think my motor is a 'big build' any advice?

Ive posted on like 5 of these posts and every single one has been the same... NO! lol

All it does is raise your rev limeter to points where there is barely any power and revs that you will probly never use. Also a good way to blow your engine quick, Just my 2 cents
I'm gonna venture to say, yes.....depending on the model.

If its a cheap procom built cdi, I say....save your money. Not too sure what anyone needs a machine that revs to 11,500 rpm.

The programmable dyna fs cdi are a different story. You can program those to your specific build and mods to best suit it. From what I understand, dyna fs are good for about 1 - 1.5 hp on a big bore motor.
That is what I was going to venture into, is the Dyna FS programmable version.

I agree 100% on the programable ones you can change the mapping to what suites your ridding style and your engine setup. any othe cdi, like stated before only really raises your rev limiter to a higher point.

i know this is an old post, but come on on man! i have read a lot of your answers and wonder where the hell are you getting your info from? i suggest you do more reading/research before you start giving any advice. a lot of your answers are wrong!
I have the Dyna and I definately noticed a little more snap when I hooked it up, and there was no internal motor work done to my quad. You can feel a big difference in the 4 settings as well, so it obviously does work. I have a question on this subject. I'm about to rebuild my motor with the WR crank, CP 12.5:1 piston and port/polish the head. Who can program these Dyna CDIs to work best with my set-up and "riding style"???
OR at least provide the correct settings. I could order the cable and program it myself if I knew where to set it...

you can call mmad or nmotion. ask them if their program will work with your build.
