I have done some searching across this platform and have yet to find the issue I have at hand.

I purchased this quad a few weeks ago not running. Here is what I have done so far.

• Replaced wiring harness with OEM replacement due to hack job wiring
• Replaced handlebar control switch with OEM replacement due to failed contacts. With these replacements I was able to get the starter to engage and turn over. Quad started for approximately 5 seconds and died.
• Found float bowl not filling. Disassembled carb, found float and needle installed wrong now allowing it to open. Fixed this and cleaned all jets and passages.
• Now quad wont fire at all. Pulled plug and found fouled. Replaced plug and coil with OEM replacement. No spark.
• Did some reading on here and bypassed TPS, no change, Returned to normal wiring.

Notable findings:

• Throttle switch on the handle bar is not there, I read on here to just plug those wires in the harness together permanently, so I did that.
• Clutch switch Is also not there, Perch is not factory. Do I need to connect these wires in the harness too? From what I have read is these would lock out the starter relay and not cut spark.
• Fuse is good.
• I do have a High output stator/voltage regulator on its way from ricky stator due to LED light bar is installed on this thing.
• The few seconds it did run it sounded healthy and did not sound as if timing was off.
• It is not turning over slow or acting like valves are tight or battery/Starter issue.

Today I will be going over the harness and making sure all connections are correct, clean, and tight.

If anyone is willing to give me a call or message me about this, that would be rad. I will update this thread with any findings.

Following because I also bought an 05 hack job. Sight unseen. I honestly cant believe the things people do. Battery terminal wires stripped and bare wire ran to the battery is just one of the many WTF things Ive found and it still doesnt run.

I just installed a Ricky stator brand high out put stator and voltage regulator and that did not solve it. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll mess with it more and figure it out. Might be ordering a CDI box. I’m shooting the parts cannon so hopefully no one else has to. I’ve never struggled this bad working on a bike. Feel free to message me. Maybe we can work together on it.

Lots of wiring by pass clean ups for me. A new starter switch as the old one was bad. New solenoid as well. Doing a new fuel valve and cleaning the tank now as there was a Chinese valve installed that wouldn't close and the fuel smelled and looked bad. I also have ordered a new Lectron 40mm carb because the stock Kehein had been replace with a cheap knock off. This will be the most expensive 05 450 ever.
