Rode all last yr with no problems. Let it sit for 4 months and fired right up. 1 month later tried again and battery completely dead. Bought new battery and Rode for an hour and dead again. Returned it and got another and now dead again. Jumped off truck and fired right up. Something is killing battery ? Could stator just go bad like that ?

It sounds like your rectum fire (rectifier) is bad, it controls the charge from your stator. They will also allow over charging leading blown headlight bulbs, both under and over charging can give you bizarre moments of drivability problems also. Super easy and relatively cheap to change, right under the front fender between the headlights, little finned thing.

Do you have headlights? And do they work? Early build yfz's have charging issues when you remove the headlights or they don't work. Someone used to make a resistor kit to delete them for race use.

What's the resistance of a headlight bulb?
