Yamaha newbie question

Hey guys! New guy here. I have a new to me 09 yfz450r and I’m noticing there is no oil on the dipstick after riding. I am checking it correctly after it has been warmed up. And I am putting the correct amount in. The quad is not smoking any! Any thoughts? TIA

Drain the oil replace the oil filter and add 1.5 quarts of oil ride it for a little and check the level. Also check if any oil is getting blown into the air box

Ok. If I do this and find it low on oil, then what?

If itís still low after youíve added 1.53 quarts, then something has added increased capacity to the oil system.

Does it have an aftermarket clutch cover on it? Or a oil tank capacity increasing cover?

You need to add more oil. Take a measuring cup, pour a 1/4 cup of oil (2 oz) in. Start it up, shut it off and recheck your dipstick. If itís still low, repeat until you get it to where it needs to be on the dipstick. Keep track of what you have added, and then take that amount and add to 1.53 quarts. Then next time you do an oil change, refill with your new amount total and youíll be good to go.

I would like to add that a cold yfz will Always read low to no oil in the dipstick even though it has proper level. Gotta warm it up real good, shuter down in level ground, wait a minute, remove dip stick, wipe clean, insert without screwing down and that is your REAL LEVEL.
