Rossier Engineering

About Rossier Engineering:
Have you finally learned how to tame the YFZ450’s stock power? Yearning for more horsepower? How does 7+ horses sound to you? Sound good? We thought so. When looking for more power, the best way to get results is by yanking off the stock exhaust system. Lets face it, its heavy, ugly, and really restrictive. One route you may want to take with an aftermarket exhaust system is with Rossier Engineering. Although they’re rather unheard of to the ATV world doesn’t mean they don’t know their stuff. So exactly how does their YFZ450 exhaust stack up to the rest? Keep reading to find out the pros and cons of this exhaust system.

Inspection:
After the mail man dropped off our package from Rossier Engineering, we quickly rushed to get it open. After unwrapping it all, we took a very close look at the exhaust. The very first thing that stood out to us was just how light it was. Although we didn’t weigh the system, we will say that it is very very light! The second thing was rather unusual, yet appealing. The exhaust tip is completely made out of billet aluminum. However, instead of being a straight exhaust outlet, its tapered downward. We were told that this was to help keep noise levels down. After testing it, we will agree that this does indeed work. The initials RE are engraved into the end cap; a nice touch. The rest of the canister is made of stainless steal with billet mounting brackets. The mounting brackets are welded to the canister for durability. The manifold also consists of a removable mid pipe for extra mid range punch. More information on that later. A spark arrestor is also included. The lettering on the pipe is made out of vinyl. We thought it might start to peel due to the heat, but its holding up perfectly!

Installation:
We’re not going to lie, installation was a pain. Having mastered the art of removing and installing an exhaust system down to a few minutes, we weren’t happy with installation. Does everything bolt up perfectly? Yes it does. Does it do it easily? No. Since it consists of a removable mid pipe, you must line that up perfectly. The trick is to put some type of lubricant on the inside of the mid pipe to help you position it to the manifold. If you don’t do this, you WILL have a hard time lining everything up. However, after we got that little problem solved, the rest was a snap!

Ride Report:
After removing the stock air box lid, re-jetting to specs, and checking everything over, we were ready to rip! What better place to test our brand spanking new pipe than in Glamis? If you haven’t been to Glamis, you really don’t know what your missing out on. Once fired up, the Rossier Engineering exhaust system is well, quiet. Yes, hard to believe for being a race pipe and a shorty at that! How does it sound when revved up? Simply put, the BADDEST sounding pipe EVER! It simply rips a new one! Sounds like someone’s firing a shotgun. What more do you want than a good sounding pipe with a low DB level? After gearing up, we headed for a ride. The most noticeable gain in power was low end. Yes, the YFZ450 does lack in that department, but the Rossier Engineering exhaust helps that area. Now for the fun part. Mid range. Oh yes, the high light of this pipe. Think the YFZ450 had a lot of that in stock form? Well ride with this pipe. You will be hanging on for dear life. It pulls very hard through all the gears and slowly tapers off at the top. Simply put, this is one of the best pipes we have ever tested. Need we say more? Didn’t think so.

Conclusion:
Lets talk price. For the price of $450.00, you get the following; great looks, awesome sound and power, an extremely light canister, sweet looking end cap, spark arrestor, and the feeling of owning one of the best pipes made for the YFZ450. Only problem as stated above is installation. A pain if you don’t take the time to do what we told you to do. So what are you waiting for? Check out www.RossierEngineering.com for more information!
