That's what the Buyer/Seller/Dealer Feedback section is for. But again, there's nothing stopping anyone flagged as a scammer from creating a new account. It takes just a few minutes to create a new email address, use an anonymous proxy server to hide their IP, and register again.

I admin 81 other websites on a daily basis, and I cannot possibly review the classifieds and try to remember what everyone has sold and what reappears and looks suspicious etc.etc. I have to rely on the community (you guys) to report anything you feel I should have a look at.
That shouldn't be one persons job. It sounds to me like you just need more mods/admins to oversee the for sale area.

Werd, on a site this big you need a few people to watch the for sale section. If you guys need help with this, i am on both sites quite often...

Also, maybe do something with upvoting posts or downvoting the useless ones. Obviously there would be limitations so one group didn't just hassle another person to make them look bad, but on the users page, show how many upvotes, how many down. Then use this number as a gauge for the for sale section, you have to be helpful to post parts, easy as that. Also, hide the very downvoted ones, can keep it family oriented and doesn't require a mod to catch it. Give the users a little power. Just an idea.

Also, Is it not possible to have a closed for sale section? A diesel site I am on has it and it is a good indication of what stuff sells for.

When the item is sold, the Seller has the power to put it in the Closed section so it is not mistaken for a current for sale ad. The forum automatically closes ads that are more than 30 or 60 days old to keep the for sale section cleaned up and prevents noobs from digging up a year old for sale thread.

Tech is and always will be drag 1st... everything else 2nd.

Central is YFZ 1st.... all inclusive.... but with such a large info base to get down to the nitty gritty details of something the site is to large to find your exact answer.

Some sites I am a part of makes a new member post in the New Member section first before being able to post anywhere else on the board. And then, they would need 30+ posts before being able to post in the For Sale sections.

I have a problem with Spam accounts period. I've seen a growing trend that this site is easier to spam on, and then to get around the One Touch Ban and Clean is they wait 30 days before posting.... this in turn makes it easy for them to spam the site and harder for mods to delete them.

Central has always been the Elementary School for YFZ's, and Tech has always been the High School for YFZ's. By this I mean beginner info is more on tech... glowing pipes, what intake/ pipe/ or flux capaciter is best...... tech is more about which Ti part is the lightest at $1500 a pop... or which high tech piston will make the absolute best power/ rev speed/..... or which crank and rod angle is best for nitrous use..... (for all you long rod lovers.....short rods for nitrous )

rarely ever will I reply to a simple (to me) thread/ question be it here or tech... this site is plenty large enough for another member to explain the pro's and con's to answering his newb question. If they blantetly get it wrong, I'll chim in to correct them.

This site has ALWAYS been a FAMILY site........ so no queer azz gay comment or porn... no cuss words, etc. If this site wants to do away with that type of censorship then the Admin needs to tell us mods what IS and is NOT offensive.... right now we mods have to walk a fine line between allowing comments and deleting comments that "may" offend" some one.

I don't need to hear about a father looking up research on his new purchased yfz with his daughter sitting on his lap asking what a Racoon Eye is or a Reach Around is.... or what does gay sex mean..... Get my point??

When this site was bought out the new owners neglated this site to the point that the site went down hill. They did away with up dating the home page with the QOTM and POTM members.... mods had no way to up date the site.... so the mods quit doing those contests...... If the new admin wants to bring this site up from the dead then they need to step up, and not drop the ball on us mods who DO WORK FOR FREE unlike the other admins of this site who get PAID to work here.

If the ADMIN (not me) wants to find members who are responsible to mod certain sections of this site then GREAT! Or responsible members who want to mod the QOTM/POTM section (that we used to have) then GREAT!! However I WILL NOT mod that section or be responsible for updating and hosting the pictures/ videos..... So do not put that ball on us mods.... that "we need to step up".........

The New Owners of this site is the reason members have left this site and mods ME INCLUDED do not log in as often or care as much as we once did...... so I blame the OWNERS, not the newb members, but it is ALL members who have been shorted.
Damn son...well said.

I have absolutely no input for this topic though unless someone has a question about Canon cameras/lens's.

Ahhh...the memories from the good old days....I hope this site get's back to the way it used to be. Good luck.

It's "buyer beware", and any buyer here on the forums should be smart enough to know by now that PayPal should be the ONLY method of payment used since the onus is on the seller to prove he shipped the item and it got delivered to the right person should a dispute arise.

Short of that, I'm hesitant to restrict Classifieds access, but I can if it's requested here. (Access based on join date / # of posts / combination of both...)
I recently picked the RC trucks as a hobby. They have a pretty sweet sale system on one of their forums. rctech.net , sorry I know the outside links are a bad thing here. It shows the trading record that the person has right under the profile picture, and both buyer and seller can leave feedbacks with comments. I bought several things there, and it's very convinient.

I don't know how expansive the software is for that, and if it would be possible to impliment it here. But I figured I'd throw the idea out there.
