I recently just got my head ported with oversize valves..I was running the gytr map for gytr exhaust, air box, cams and piston..it ran pretty good. I just got an msd controller yesterday and plugged in a converted pcv map for gytr head cams piston exhaust etc..as a basline. I ran the +5 advanced timing like everyone else and put 3's in the other areas. I know this map would be off because of the valves and its not a gytr head..but its blowing out black smoke when i rev it up..i mean the throttle repsonse really isnt that bad.. got the fuel acc. set to 80% at 3000.. i can tell its rich from the smoke, but can someone give me some ideas trying to get it as close as possible before going to the dyno tmrw! thanks oh and my mods are ported head, oversize valves, gytr full exhaust, pro flow k and n no airbox, 08 intake cam, je 13:1, msd, just running normal 110 fuel till i get it tuned close.

Why would you even want to mess with it if you're taking it to a dyno. There gonna do a base run and then change all the vaules anyways. You are just wasting your time trying to do it yourself when it's all gonna get changed. I know because my dad just had his raptor 700 done when I did my yfz, there gonna make you a custom map, so yours probably wont even be close to what the final one is gonna be.

^^^^^What he said. Don't waste your time and potentially do some damage. Just let them handle it on the dyno.
I did the same thing. I lost my custom map from ATP when my Motoworks tuner lost its ground and the map was erased. I bought a PCV and tried running different maps, including the GYT-R stage III. Even adjusting the maps, they were way off. HMF's dyno and O2 sniffer put the power curve right where it should be, and the dyno charts show how far off the GYT-R map was. |
