Winter build

With winter quickly approaching, I'm going to have some down time.
So despite my effort, the 450 is on the chopping block.
So for starters I'm going to get a

Yoshi exhaust.
Robl intake
08 yz450f cam
Slhg

Now if I have the head off, should I get it ported?
I use the bike to do it all. Trail,mx,xc,Dune, open pit style riding.

I don't know how it works with these bikes, but I dont know if they have names for a different port style. Like a Dune port, mx port, etc.

Pump gas is a must.

I want to do fairly cheap mods, as I want to focus more on the chassis. So the 4 minus the porting is all about 1k. Which isn't all that bad if I spread it out over a few months. But if I'm in there, I'd want to do it once and not deal with it for a while

What's the hype with the single layer head gasket? I hear about it a lot but don't understand why its desired? Mixxer is the person to PM for porting questions. Should be a nice build

If you have it apart I would port for pump gas!

I don't know. Just seen its a free mod good for some power.
So I'm all about it. Maybe I'll look into it more

Hmm.
What's the scoop on that?
And who is doing the best one? I need to call a few places.
The sponsors here are only retailers. I don't know any shops in the FI four stroke business

Okay. After 3-4 hours of reading I'm lost. I called dasa, and motoxperts and OCP
I spoke with Dan at dasa. We ran through what I do. He said port and keep everything stock.
I'd benefit from that being I'm 90%trail riding. No big valves no epoxy.
We talked about big bores. Said I could do it. Would be a noticeable difference.
Spoke with Ronnie. She was smart, definitely knew her shit. But I started to get into more tech questions that she just didn't want to give bad info on. Waiting for a return call from OCP.

I stupidly burned my coolant hose on the pipe.
So I ordered these silicone hoses. I've had good luck with them on a dozen other bike before

I'm in NJ.
I read more bad then good for the FMF on the R.
Yoshi has been proven to be the best and quietest exhaust for these bike. But if you know something I don't let me know.
I'll look into them. Just checking options now.

i love mine, i had the factory GYTR on it but swapped to the FMF once i got the X that had a blown out 2bros pipe on it, big difference not loud and pulled harder than my buddies 14 with the yoshi pipe we swapped quads to compare.. but it will all depend on everything else you do that can get you the power when and where u did it! NJ is about 1.15min from me in NY but def look into BCS

I'm curious what ecu and intake your running for the Yoshimura to be less powerful?...What condition was the bike fitted with the Yoshi in? Stock porting on both bikes?.... Both bikes dyno tuned...if not you're really aren't going to get a good comparison...

The FMF sticks out to far and has really cruddy fit and finish....I have owned both pipes but never used the FMF RCT.

Cool I'll look into them.
I was just curious as to what the local central Guys are running.
99% of the fast shops are pretty well talked about.
Mmad seems to be pretty well talked about. I'm going to give them call tomorrow and see what they have to say

Just got these beadlocks for 150 with the holeshots. There 18s, but what ever. I'll just play with gearing.
