i have a 2009 YFZ450R, and up until a month ago it was pefect! Bone stock, just powdercoated frame an a-arms yamaha blue, and the baffle taken out... no more than probably 50 hours on it.. i was trail riding deep in the woods and my fuel light came on, i ran out before i could get out to get gas, my buddy towed me and i put gas in it. started it up idled fine, went to take off and it just stalled, now ever since it will idle just fine but as soon as you go to take off it just boggs and stalls, it will idle pretty good and in neutral you can usually rev until the limiter but you have to push the throttle slowly to do that, if you crack the throttle it will just bog. Also backfires a little now too. so first i took the fuel pump out, and it was clean, cleaned it anyways, changed the spark plug and changed the oil, and cleaned the air filter, and put a new battery in it.. nothing different.. so i took off the throttle position sensor, cleaned that out, took off the airflow sensor and that was clean, put them back in same thing, i put fuel injector cleaner in just for shits and giggles because every yamaha dealer and mechanic i've talked to says on these new yfz's nothing will be able to get to the injector. still the same problem.. can someone please help me out with this?! if you can you'd be smarter than most of the yamaha dealers, mechanics, and yamaha's supposed "PRO" mechanics... on my last straw.. really wish i kept the 06 as a back up

no check engine light at all, yeah i drained the original gas, yeah injector is my last option i think even tho several yamaha mechanics told me its damn near impossible for it to get to the injector, i also tried injector cleaner, im not sure if that would actually do anything if its clogged

If you look down the "fuel in" side, there is a little tiny screen and it didn't look dirty enough to cause a problem.
On another YFZR that I was helping diagnose, the screen had a bunch of crap in it. I found this on a thread i read a while back, also may want to check all of the wire harnesses around the quad. (specifically by the TB/ gas tank area) maybe |

There is a strainer on the fuel pump that is not servicable(thanks yamaha), we just actually pulled the plastic apart where it looks like it snaps together. Once you do this its now broke!!!. And tried blowing backwards through the strainer and it was plugged solid. We just put an outerwear on for the rest of our trip and he is ordering a new pump and strainer now. We found the problem by switching tanks from my quad to his and problem went away.
Also found this solution on a thread with similar problems, start at the gas cap and work your way to the tailpipe and check everywhere for a clog, could be very minimal do have a keen eye! these things are finicky! I sure hope i dont run into these problems, i would miss my old blaster alot! i could run that thinkg with my gas mixed with water and it would run!

I tried my buddy's pump along with a bunch of other things again.. Still the same thing, my one friend seems to think it skipped time, he said he did it on his yz450 and it was acting the same exact way, is it possible?? I just didn't think that would happen on a quad this new, I'm going to rip her apart today or tomorrow to at least see if the cams line up

THat sounds odd. You run out of gas then like the same time you jump time and on a bike with such low hours on it hmmmph... I was with yfz450rjunky. The nozzle on the end of the injector is so small and the orphis in the injector is so small it takes nest to nothing to cause a restriction.. But hey you said its fixed so good for you. THumps up...
