Default Black breather box removal question??

I have read all the posts, I removed mine and installed the FCI w/box, just zip tied the hoses down In between frame. My question is, are there any negative effects of doin this?? I can't find a simple YES or NO on this. I don't race, but I trail ride and ride pretty hard. The guy from fuel customs said the box is not necessary and no negative effects will happen to my R, thanks a lot!

Never! listen to my advice
a month ago I was at your problem I have tried to do all the things everyone suggest me
look at my threads, I finally decide that the best solution is to connect it to the FCI box exactly as it was before with the OEM box, make 2 holes and connect it, if not you will lose oil from the 2 hose breather.

I think dumping the excess oil into the breather box is a bad idea. I wouldn't connect to your FCI. I simply re-routed my lines so that the blow by will dump out under the swing arm. If your having blow by issues, you need to make sure your rings are still good. Do a leak down test.

The bike i bought off taylor kiser who races pro GNCC, they used an LTR450 breather box mounted up front by the motor. Also chad wienen looks to be running the same setup on his MX bike. If all these guy are using it whether its in XC or MX racing seems like theres a reason to keep something on there rather than dumping it. Then again I'm sure these guys are running these bikes alot harder than any of us would be.

I'm interested in keeping the blow by inside the motor. Could you post up some detailed pics of how they mounted it and what exactly they used to do it?

Just make sure you don't end up with any leftover parts...

A littel peice of foam if I remember correctly. I think its there to absorb any excess blow by. What ends up happening is that it gets to full and leaks out into your air box, getting oil all over your air filter.

I hear ya! I've got a garage full of parts... I'm a little worried about getting everything back together correctly. I never would have thought that there were so many dam parts on one of these bikes. When you do get it back together though, I'm really curious as to how they setup your box.

Theres 3 hoses to the box. One comes from the top of the engine cover into the top of the box, another comes out the bottom of the box and back into the crankcase, the last one is a breather tube that comes out the top of the box and down then just zip-tied to the frame and hangs down. Basically any oil is going to drain back into the crankcase and you wont lose anything.

So all you have different is an LTR box then? How was it attached to your bike?

Thanks for all the info, I'm just gonna leave them zip tied down, seeing how no one said this can hurt ur bike, I check my oil every ride so it's not a big deal to me if I lose a little, thanks again
