I bought my YFZR last year from taylor kiser and ever since never touched the crankcake breather box. For some reason they relocated it to the front of the bike and it sits up between the radiator and motor. I didnt realize until recently that I saw chad wienen bought an LTR450 crankcase breather box and after looking at mine realized thats what they put on my bike.
I was thinking of removing it but there must be some reason/trick these guys know and are doing this instead of taking it all off. Now that I have my bike all apart im not sure if im going to put it back together how they had it or just leave the box off like most people on here do. ![]()

Interesting...I might have to do this mod should I start having oil blow-by issues.

My quad seems to dump a lot of oil. When I ordered the FCI I routed my lines like most people do. I put the T down just above the crank case and pointed the T angled up as much as I could. After 3 hours run time my oil had gone from the full line to the bottom of the add line. These may not be a big deal but amsoil isnt cheap.
I cant imagine that my engine would be that worn out to have excessive blow by, I have had it for just shy of 6 months and bought it new. Maybe this would help, have you noticed your black box filling? or is the box made to let the oil gravity drain back into the case while letting the air vent?

I spoke to kiser at a race on Saturday and the reason for the ltr box is to run it back to breather on top of the case. If their is to much it will run out the third hole. My bike just started blowing oil into the airbox when I added the vortex, I had the yosh pim before. I wouldn't think I need a top end in one weeks time. From what I'm being told it is because we raised the rev limiter and I should probably do a top end, bike has about 40 hrs on it.

Hose from the top of the head goes into the top of the box, hose from the crankcase goes into the bottom of the box. There should be a spot for 1 more hose at the top of the box and that one was just a hose zip-tied to the frame and hanging down.

You know its funny you brought that up. I saw an ebay user Weinen44 that was selling some brand new never used 2012 yfz450r parts(axle, subframe, etc). Wanna guess what the only thing the user has bought on ebay? An 07 ltr breather box.

I'll post up my install as soon as it gets here. I'm almost through with this yfz to R 6 point subframe install and the yfz axle install. It appears over half of my quad isnt going to be an R by the time its over.
