Default MSD Install

Just looking under the seat, I have a hard time picturing how anything can mount above the air box. It seems there is no room there. Is it difficult to install. Is this where it really goes. Please advise before I purchase. 2011 R

You need to remove the air box lid in order to install it. It comes with a bracket that sits right on top of the airbox and fits perfectly although it maybe hit the bottom of your seat slightly. Its the easiest to install out of all the fuel controller imo considering it plugs directly into the ECU and thats it. Your making the right choice the MSD is the best out there on the market right now besides replacement ECUs that cost 2-3x as much. dynojet is coming out with a new PCV that sounds like it might be better than the MSD but time will tell.

You have to remove the air box lid, and use the bracket supplied with the kit.

You can use the air box lid if you mount the MSD in a different location, but you have to use your imagination because MSD doesn't offer alternative instructions for those of you who want a lid.

Yes it does, but you have to do some re-routing of the wiring. The way I have mine set up, I had to grind away a bit from under the seat due to the wires making the seat stick up a little on the one side.

I mounted mine over the air filter with the supplied bracket. I ended up notching out a little plastic for the front 2 tabs. I also made 2 aluminum (hold down) brackets for the 2 rear tabs that attach from the 2 bolt that hold in the airbox. now its VERY easy to remove the blaster fi when servicing the air filter. I cant figure out why MSD didn't do this in the first place and do away with the velcro. I also mounted the blaster fi to the bracket.
