Default steering flag "custom"

So ive seen the ARS-FX steering flags and since they are made from the stock OEM flag i figure i will make my own like so.. I know theres goin to be some people to say they wouldnt trust it or say its a accident in the making but if you have seen a ARS-FX in person you will see theirs is identical and is also welded which if you can weld good there should be no worries.

I had 2 oem flags and started cutting and got almost a good 1/2 way finished product.

theres a outline on the bottom of the flag of the same triangle design that i cut which is same as the ARS FX

here are some pics showing what ive done. It lowers the tie rods 3/8" inch down lower to reduce bump steer and better handling.

I just got a GTThunder one for my YFZR. Its a stock one aswell cut and welded. Good idea making your own, pretty simple if you can weld

thanks, looks like the same concept but i took 2 flags and made 1. Mine is 1 sitting on top of the other so its a full 3/8in drop lower. Not sure how much lower the GTT is because of the top view

It lowers the tie rods down and lessens the angle they are at, which is supposed to reduce bump steer.

eliminate bump steer and help with handling which bump steer in brakn bumps and whooped out tracks can really slow a rider down

That makes sense, although it seems that with this increased angle it would also cause more resistance when turning the bars?

its not changin the angle its just bringing the center point of the tie rod mounting down lower.

Other aftermarket companys sale stems with longer splines and threads so they have their own steering flag that just has a longer flange so it spaces it downwards. However like houser and others they make you run a small spacer under the flag if your using the stock OEM because the spacer makes up the difference that the aftermarket flag takes up. You cant just throw a spacer between the stock flag because then it will lower the flag too much and the steering stoppers wont hit the frame brackets and cause the steering point to stop like its suppose to, therefore making your turns too sharp which can lead to a crash

Ah, I see. Well that all makes sense, I would be curious to see how much of a difference this would make with bump steer. As more quads make their way to being parted out on ebay I am sure I could pick up a couple flags to make one like yours. It looks pretty straight forward.

Looks good. I wasn't aware of this upgrade at all. Thanks for bringing it to attention. It looks like a new flag with a stabilizer should yeild good results.
