Default steering problem

alright i own 2 yfz one is an 06 and the other is an 08. my 08 was used and dad picked up a couple days ago but it seems something is wrong with the steering. the steering seems stiff and hard to move left and right and also when i drive the quad wants to push itself right and not stay in a straight line. it causes stress on my hands and have to force the handlebars straight only to keep it straight and left turns are hard. what could be the problem? am i looking into a big fix up or just minor

Also check and make sure the tie rods are set up correctly.

Yep, check the bearings on the wheels and steering stem. Then check to see if your toe in is correct. Also double to check you don't have a brake hangin up.

Put your wheeler up on a milk crate or something to elevate it off of the ground. Then spin your front wheels and see if they spin freely. Next, grab the top of the wheel and the bottom of the wheel and see how much play there is when you wiggle it from top to bottom. To check your tie rods, you want to set the bike back on the ground and let the suspension settle in. (jump up and down on the bike a few times) Then you'll want to measure you tow in to be sure that you don't have one tire pointed in more than the other. Here is a detailed instruction on how to do it correctly. http://www.walshracecraft.com/set-up.html Ignore the camber caster settings if you have stock arms. Focus on the toe in instructions.
