Default What long travel is and how it works

I've seen it over and over again about how people think long travel means longer travel but it doesn't. It refers to the shock so I saw this artical awhile back and found it again so I'm posting up a link to it and perhaps Leveldrummer will make it a sticky.

I like it. I actually learned a couple things. I'm not saying I read things that were totally new to me, but I did look at the whole suspension process differently. Good post!! Very useful!!

stuck, good job alberta guy.

hope this clears up some issues we have been having lately on the forums.

the best thing i ever did was go to my local shock builders house, and sit down, and have him show me the different parts of the shocks, and explain how they work, and what they change when they tune a shock, and how things like up travel of the rear shock will effect the handling of the front end... its very cool to understand how it all comes together. and how much crap we can actually adjust to get our quads handling great.
