Default cheap long travel

I'm in the market for a yfz and found an 05 i like and will prolly buy. My question is, can i run +2 arm with the stock shocks from another quad with long travel from the factory with little modifications? I See no reason for spending alot of money on the "perfect" suspension since i do not race or anything. But i do like to ride on mx tracks and a few friends have personal tracks that i ride on. I was thinking maybe some lt-r shocks if the width of the shock mounts are the same or verry close. Or, how well is a +2 system for stock shocks? Seems like it would soften the front end a bit due to the extra leverage. Will definately have to get the stockers revalved. I have a set of 08 yfz shocks on my banshee. Arent they better than the 05 shocks? Sorry if I sound like an anoying newb but i've been out of the sport for a couple of years and forgot alot of things. Thanks for any input.

No such animal unless you can find a set that defy simple geometry. by increasing the length of the A-arms you increase the radius of the travel therefore increasing the distance the A-arms travel at the end even with stock shocks. The only reason you would need longer shocks for any A-arm kit is if the mounting point for the shock was moved out from the stock location which is not necessary but I believe most manufacturers do just so they can sell you a set of shocks and steal another grand of your hard earned money. I guess what I am getting at is that he needs to find a set of +2 arms with shock mounting points at the stock location, but he will in the end still have extended travel.

you misunderstand what long travel and standard travel refers too, it has nothing to do with how far the tire moves on the end of the arm, it simply means how long the shock is, you can get +2 arms with standard travel, they just use a stock length shock. it only refers to shock length, and the term is rather misleading.

to the OP. you can get houser arms out of their clearance section brand new for around 500... just look around.

or check with some of the site sponsors that have great deals on some cheaper brand suspensions.

the stock 08 shocks are better then the 05's, so use those, get them revalved for the arms and your weight. and dont use any other stock shocks from other bikes, too many issues and variables to get them setup properly.

no biggie, your theory is correct, its just not what they are talking about when referring to the travel of our suspension... if there was more actual tire travel, the frame would hit the ground much more.

Sorry to just jump in here but about how much does it cost to have stock shocks revalved? What is the weight limit on the stock shocks?

Ok. Thanks for the info guys. I'll just look around for some used ones. What's a decent company to get the stockers revalved at?
