I just got a yfz 450v. Ive started racing and noticed that other people with wider quads handle the corners and terrain better and when i try the corners i go up on two wheels. so i was wondering wat upgrades and wat brands r the best. and i was also wondering wat how i shuld set the suspension for my weight i weigh 125 pounds.

best bet is to get a +2 or +3 a arms, with some nice new shocks to go with them, then get a nice wide axle, when you guy the shocks, they build them to the arms and your weight. and you need to learn to move around on the quad, you cant turn well with your butt on the seat, get over to one side, real far.

if you wanna be cheap. i see people just flip the front tires around, it makes it wider, and get extended hubs, like a brand g force. thats the cheap way. but if you wanna do it the right way, get a wider axle and some a arms. depending on were you ride, i have 19' tires in the front and 18' in the back. that just makes a really big difference

You are probably thinking about a steering stabilizer. Those help a little, to a lot, depending on the brand and model. However if you are going up on 2 wheels, and you are doing everything you are supposed to, weight destribution wise, you need a wider set up. Like people above me said, wider a arms and wider axle helps a lot, but it will cost you some. If you are short on money, you could look in to getting some +3 wheel spacers. A couple of places make them. I still have those on, and they help a lot. Getting rid of them as soon as my front end and the axle comes in though... can't wait. Hope this helps. |

Just realize that if you go with spacers, you are changing the location of the wheels further out from the front spindles. This will cause much more "bumpsteer" and cause quicker rider fatigue. My quad had the spacers when I bought it used. I now have +2 a-arms with Ohlins Lt shocks...it is like comparing night and day. If you are tight on cash, look for a good used setup.

if you just change the axle and not being wide in the front it will push in the corners

Check the classifieds for all this. Even top name like houser racing have a clearence section and you might just fined what your looking for, for a good price.
You should be able to get a decent/good front end for 400-500 tops Buy a G-force adjustable axle, it will run you about 250-300 might even be able to buy one used check the classifieds cheaper. They are a good axle I have one one my raptor and its been through hell and back. At this point your around 700, as for your shocks since your just starting out and your light. I would just send your stock shocks out to be re-valved for your wight and riding style, not sure if the stock shocks can be resprung or not. I would say doing these 3 things would set you up nice and you would be competitive on a buget. To get all of this done plan on spending 1000-1500 max. Since the season is over you have lots of time to save and another idea is ask for money or some of these things for x-mas. Spend it wisely or you will regret it. research and ask lost of questions befor runing and impulse buying, you will just kick yourself in the ass in the long run. Ill be selling my +1" GYT-R front end this winter if interested. Has 2 shock mounts to widen the front and is +1" each side for a max of 2" wider. PM me if interested. Hope this helps
