I have always ran just stock sprockets, or either sunstar. And as far as chains go I will only run a RK Gold X-ring 520 on my quads. I have been running them on the last three an never had one fail.

I shattered a sunstar the first hard launch on my banshee. I switched up and started running pmi and had good luck with them. As far as chains go, a good cheaper chain to consider is the ek oring. I run the ek xring and that thing is tough. A little pricey, but its held up great.

I have a SunStar rear and Renthal front sprockets. When I ordered sprockets, SunStar did not have the front one. I haven't had any issues & race MX only.
I run DID X-ring chain. I spray it with lube before every ride and after every wash. Even if it is sitting for a few weeks, I will spray it. I do not know if it is better for dunes to use a chain wax or just lube (6in1) or whatever...?

Make sure you get the gold plated chain if your getting primary drive and I would really reccomend not getting their front sprocket. They break teeth way easier than any other sprocket ive seen.

Stay away from them unless your just going to let your quad sit an not ride it. I bought one years ago and it lasted all of 30 minutes while practicing for a race

I run DID chains and Renthal aluminum sprockets, my bike is mostly a duner, so not sure how the aluminum sprockets will hold up on hard backed dirt for racing. ERT 2 by DID is a great chain, I can see by his avatar that he does ride in the sand which is why I say do not run a o-ring chain for him.

If you want to clean and take off the chain every ride and consantly worry about lubing the non o ring. buy it. they work great on bicycles. my stock setup lasted 5 years in the dunes, and sprockets had little wear considering. edit: forgot to add 1.5 years of my stock setup was in az desert riding. super dusty and hot lol. i hardly ever lubed it then....just one of those things you say... ah who cares. i doubt a non o ring would take the abuse mine did.
