What is the best way to test if the jetting is correct? In the past I have looked at the spark plug. Is there a better way to tell if you are jetted correctly?

So I am setting my bike up for ice racing in a couple weeks. I've got a hmf qrs pipe. And I'm wanting to rejet my bike. And every one I've seen on here is no where near the temps that we ride in here (Alaska). Average temp is going to be around 0 degrees give or take 10-20 degrees in both directions. Does anyone have any suggestions on the jetting I should do. I have my bike torn apart and trying to figure out what to jets to use. I have the gytr kit with all the different jets and an adjustable pin. Thanks

I have a 2005 yfz with the following mods..and i need advice for the proper jet setting..
Yoshimura slip on
Jet kit
K&n pro flow filter w lid box off
—------------
Now when i drive it, its not getting enough fuel. It backfires a bit and when im going and hit the throttle it sometimes misses a beat. Its not terrible but definitely not set right. Now when i pull the choke to 1/2 choke it runs A Lot better but still backfires and misse a beat but not as bad with the choke off.
Does anyone know if adjusting the air/fuel screw will help? And what settings should i use?

Very helpful. Newbie here to all this. Bought a 08 yfz450 and it won't idle without choke on. Bone stock. 20 hrs or under. Drained gas, added 93 and sea foam, took off bowl today and cleaned jets etc. seemed to be good before. New spark plug. Didn't mess with fuel screw yet. Should I seat it and go 2 out and adjust from there? Central il, and it's pretty cold here.
