501 motor, no issues, cams good and valve lash good. Started easy with lectron on alcohol. Now running my sredrum bored FCR on 112 octane gas.
It started once today, which is great. Nothing would get it to start until I gave it half to 3/4 throttle and held it there. Then, it started on the 3rd or so kick after that.
That was with a 42 pilot in it and 1.5 out the the A/F screw. But, it did start.
Okay, so my logic, go back up to a 45 pilot and it might be good. Well, will not start there at all. Tried idle up and down no help.
Question is, why did it start half to 3/4 throttle??? Does that mean rich or lean? What to do next?

Sounds like a carb problem or jetting. Did you do any other mods other than boring the carb? What's your electrical setup?

a 42p and 3 turns out on the fuel screw is what i had to do for my bike to start with kicker

Got it figured out. Leaned pilot to a 40 with air screw 1/2 turn out. Starts 1st kick. The sredrum bored carb / kicker combo on my 501 does not like much pilot.
