only thing i would think it would hurt is just transfer more heat further down the pipe, and either burn out your packing quicker or warm up plastics and crap like that...

Well, if it's a titanium header, they make the walls very thin on those, and if you wrap it, the heat may not necessarily escape further down then pipe, and it may potentially burn a hole in your header. Doesn't happen to everyone, but some people have had this issue. If he told you that you would burn valves, he's on something!

If you wrap the stock titanium header you will burn holes through the header, the header get very close to its melting point when you ride normal, so when you wrap it it gets even hotte. I wouldn't wrap the stock header.

BTW

I used header wrap on my YFZ and had no problems, main reason was to not burn my plastic or my legs.

It was on a Ice Cube 523cc engine with an Nmotion exhaust. No problems at all, just make sure you wrap it tight.

Dam there is alotta love in this forum. Original question was good though. I was gonna wrap mine too. I've never rode a quad or bike in 30 years of riding that gets so dam hot by my leg. Can definitaly see me burning a few riding pants. Think i'll wrap mine and try it. Worst case scenario is the header pipe gets a whole like someone said. Its getting an HMF anyway, so screw it. Would rather burn the pipe than my leg. My concern is this dam bog off idle. Tried the zip-tye mod with no change. And whats the deal on this oil mod? Big hype? or major concern if not done.

Yeh, i think so too. If you think about it. There are alot of street bikes, and race cars that wrap there headers and have no problem. So why would the quad be any different.

No companies make a straight steel head pipe correct? I haven't dealt with the head wrap as heat transfer problem but i'm sure people have heard of the moisture problems header wrap creates on no coated or Cold rolled steels.

So I was thinking about this post more and more, and it can theoretically cause burning valves. The exhaust is about 1000 to 1400 degrees farenheit, the air that is, so you wrap your header, the heat can't be lost there, if your pipe is too restrctive, it in essence could keep to much heat in the header, it could back into your head and hooray! burned valve. Now before you flame me, realize I don't agree with this, but it in theory could happen. I havent heard of it happening, but hey, who knows!
