and adjusting the screw gives the accelerator pump linkage less travel and thus less gas, the spring and zip tie mod do the same thing, but without shortening the travel.

looks good! might try this one out too! excellent write up!
just a quick Question tho, ive seen product evaluations about the scary fast quickshot and the boysen acellerator pump, along with bigger float bowls/ adjustable leak jets, and what not, but i was wondering, if you ever had the time to try one of these ''bog killing'' mods compared to youre spring mod. i'd just like to see how they compare before jumping head first into my carb. |

Im attempting to do this right now and im at the part where you take the thin shaft thing out and have to "wiggle" the black thing out. I cannot figure out how to "wiggle" the black piece out and dont want to take anything off and screw up. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

you take off the E-clip and the spring wrapped around the black part? dont be afraid to bend the spring either... after all it IS a spring.

to tosubie if its not too late... as far as i know the carbs are all basically the same. the previous owner (if there WAS a previous owner) may have done something?

First off, GREAT WORK! That really makes it easy... However my question is if you do an aftermarket exhaust and re-jet does this also cure the bog? Or is this simple fix also necessary? I will probably do it anyway since I'm going to have the carb out and apart to re-jet when I put the aftermarket exhaust on. Just curious if there will be anything negative to this fix if I re-jet with a aftermarket pipe.

So the boyesen quickshot 3 still doesn't cure all of the bogging? Doing the spring mod to will most likely solve it? Also downsizing the leak jet from stock 40 to a 35 is this necessary for all of our quads if we have the carb torn down? To do. Doesn't matter what all mods you have done should do it if you have the chance?

Smootrc you got a problem. I have an 05 and trust me. There is a spring and o-rings inside the pump. I just did the spring mod yesterday, and also installed a Quickshot 3. The bog is TOTALLY gone. But the throttle is still hard. Gonna get the replacement spring. DID the cam mod right away also. MAN did that wake the motor up. Definitly worth the time.
