Thanks for this how to rejet thread. Very helpful. Made the job alot easier. Great work!!!!

I have a new bone stock 2007 yfz450 (first yamaha quad) with a very fustrating bog off idle. Most threads I have seen acknoledge this and say to rejet and change to 4th clip position on the needle.

I could not rotate the carb enough to access it. Looks like its hitting something. I had to remove it from the engine. Not terrible but a little more involved. I also noticed that my 2007 needle is not adjustable. Only one clip position. I rejetted the pilot and main (now at 45/16 but I am stumped on the needle. Some say to shim it, I am not familiar with shimming. Will a 2006 needle work in a 2007? Any help? The bog lessoned with the rejetting but still stubbles when stabbing the throttle just off idle. My next step is to figure out how to shim the needle and add a power now unit.

I want to make this bog go away completley on my 2007. Does race gas help. I am using pumped gas at 93 octane.

I'm having that problem right now with my 06. I have a full HMF exhaust with 50 pilot and 175 main (had a 180 but changed it when the temp hit 105 everyday here in Dallas). Everything seems to be working right through all RPMs, the only problem I have is a stumble when stabbing the thottle right off of idle. I was thinking about adjusting the fuel mixture screw.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Okay... This might sound like a very dumb question, but here it goes. If I want to put the clip in #5 postion am I placing the clip on the 5 th postion from the bottom of the needle or the 5 th postion from the top of the needle. I am thinking from the bottom to richen it (allowing more to pass). By the way I have a GYTR kit

I have an 06 YFZ450. I currently have a curtis sparks shorty exhaust, cam mod, lid off, K&N filter kit, needle set on 4th clip down, 162 main, 45 pilot, air screw at 2 turns.
I race mx and as I am sitting at the gate giving it gas, the gate drops and it floods and dies. What should my settings be?

I'm no expert but compared to everyone else's recommendations your main is too small. According to the Jetting FAQ you should be at a 168 main and 2.5 turns out on the fuel screw. Alot of people are going bigger than 168 though... just check the jetting faq thread.

This is more for reference than anything, on the 2007 I think things are alittle tighter than earlier years. I rejetted and popped out the fuel screw plug on mine this weekend and I had to remove the airbox, and unbolt the rear brake fluid resevoir to get the carb pulled from the motor. I tried to just loosen up the clamps on each side of the carb but when I would turn it there is a bolt on top of the choke that hits the upper motor mount. When turning it away from me towards the rear brake it would hit the resevoir. Just takes alittle more playing around than I expected. Went smoothly other than that.

I just bought a LRD full system and it says to use a 55 pilot, 165 main, and 6th on the clip.
WTF?

Jetting my bike this weekend. After reading this thread I feel very confident in doing it for the first time. Good Job on the write up! I'm going with a 45 pilot and a 165 main.

The 2007 models do seem ALOT tighter. I accidently removed the actual black TPS switch because I misread the directions. Hope I didn't mess anything up. This will be my second time rejetting (I had the same problem as a couple others with the stock needle not being adjustable the first time I jetted.) So now I've got an nvcq needle and I wanted to try doing this without removing the carb but I don't think it's going to happen. If anyone knows how to get the carb to spin on a 2007 please share. It's pissing me off the amount of time I have to spend doing this.

Im jeting a 07 this weekend for the first time. by the sounds of things im not even going to try the needle. im at 1000ft, going to try a 165 or main and a 45p. Then when the muffler gets here check and see how a 168 works. no problems with bogging of idle too bad, but running too lean. My plug is all most white!

So has anyone done a 07 that didnt have to take the carb out? I tried everything, but to get at the needle its gonna have to come out. whats the best way to do this? I know this is going to be a dumb question to most, but what is the black hose on the break side for? can it be disconected with no problems? any other tips or tricks for this job?
Thanks!
By the way, just changed out the main to a 165 from 155. now im bogging off idle. thats the only change so far.

Only one TPS switch on the carb. There are a totl of two switches...one is the TPS and the other is the carb switch. The carb switch is the smaller of the plugs. If you have a newer model YFZ the plugs may be a different color (brown I think).

i'm running a ronwoods and a alba pipe an a 06 yfz my jetting now is 178 main 48 pilot and stock needle, stock fuel screw and it seems to run perfect for 0 to 500' elevation at 60 to 80 deg weather in the desert but now its 90 to 105 in the desert were i ride, same elevation....
is there a general rule of thumb to drop down/go up in jet sizes for different weather temps?
thanks in advance
