Athena 98MM Big Bore

There ya go. I have no first hand experience with it but I haven't read a single negative comment about Athena.

haha yeah see man im getting there haha... the athena kit comes with a piston already too but i think from what i read id rather have a good cp piston and the athena cylinder should work but i was on KBs website and they didn't have a cp piston listed for 98mm only 97mm for the 04 yfz... idk why exactly but only the 06-07 had the 98mm option, perhaps it has to do with the crank though and i planned on possibly changing that out as well like you said to the 06oem crank

You can run the same exact piston with 04-08. It probably has to do with CR. Taco said the 06 heads dimensions are a little bigger so the compression will be a little lower than what a 04-05 head would make. I'm sure if you call Kenneth up and tell him your exact setup he can set you up right. There is no difference in the piston though just the head.

i was reading the other post by KB and he says they don't have cylinders only, I'm about to say screw it and just order this kit with the highest compression piston i can get and go balls to the wall with it for awhile

That's not a bad idea and you can buy a fair amount of race fuel for what a cylinder costs but keep in mind though race gas isn't cheap. I really don see anything wrong with the Athena piston. You can also buy the kit and put the piston for sale, I know somebody will buy it for rebuild.

I really enjoyed my Athena kit in my 2004 YFZ.

All YFZ's share the same piston to date; however, the compression ratio is slightly different depending on the model. I'll try to fix the CP drop down menu Monday morning.

Your correct. Just keep in mind all the YFZ's including the fuel injected models use the same piston.

I don't mind discussing the pros and cons of different engine setups if you'd like to give us a call on Monday before placing your order.

I used the stock Athena piston without one issue or regret. However, please keep in mind I ran the YZF450 Athena kit with the WR crankshaft.
