Is it reliable?
Will i need do do other mods like: Cams? Jets? Exhaust? i currently have stock with baffle out. can i use the stock crank and rod? it is a 2005, all stock. the reason for big bore kit is: timing chain wore out, cam gears worn, skipped teath, timing is completly off and its definatly time to rebuild. |

not sure about the kit but you dont need to have an exhaust etc but you arent going to benefit any from keeping it stock with a big bore. should atleast get a used full system or something and stock cams. and basically if your going to do a rebuild id replace everything so you dont end up wrecking the bottom end or cylinder etc.

IMO there are better options out there than ice cube. What type of riding do you do?
It may be best to just rebuild it all with OEM parts, put in an 06 crank etc and make it a true 450cc

the aluminum liner in the aluminum cylinder setup of the ice cubes is prone to slipping and causing sealing problems

i mostly trail ride, but i often race with fiends on a homemade track. im thinking about either getting a true 450 or 468 cause 478 i think is a little over kill. and i am already planning on a complete rebuild. i just wanted to upgrade instead of staying stock and needed to know what all i need. im planing on buying a barker full exhaust system and i have a modified lid and high flow intake.

See manny. I knew you could do it...![]() x2 I would run ss\sb with a good high comp piston, mild port, stock cams, and above intake with a good pipe..

Fuel Customs Intake. One of the best... IF flows great and filters like a foam filter would ..... Good that is..

thanks! so would a stock 06 crank work in the 05? and what compesion ratio do u recomend? and doing that would i have as much of a power gain as doing a big bore kit? i really want a jump in power but dont wanna spend money on a new jug.

The comp is going to depend on your fuel budget. Anything over 12.5 is most likely going to need a 50 50 mix of some good high octane fuel...For the money on a big bore alone you can get a mild port, a good piston, and the fci. I base this off the athena kit witch is one of the best, but there piston design is flawed. There are way better pistons out there.. Yes the 06 crank will fit and it will make your 05 a tru 450.
With a good mild port, pipe, piston, intake and a good tune you would easy be in the 50 range.... I would say for all of this you would be in the area of 1200 to 1500 total.. And your bike would be like new.... A good carb bore from sredrum isnt a bad idea...

Je is good, but there a little heavier than stock, cp is very good and reliable, some have very good luck with wiseco. any one of these will work..My last build had a wiseco 13.5 to 1 wr piston and after 50 or more hours the skirt still looked new. and the bore didnt looked touched...
