Default 2005 yfz replacement motor or stroker kit?

hey guys i just recently bought a yfz and had the the motor sieze the first ride. i have the chance to get a freshly rebuilt motor for 1000$ and as much as i hate to say it an ebay 508 stroker kit for $1100 with all brand name parts bearing, gaskets, crank, rods, piston. ill be doing most of the work myself with the help of a small engine person. finding a press will be the worst part. i have roughly 1600 to spend give or take. just woundering people opinions on these stroker kits or just leave it stock.
Thanks!

When you say brand name parts, what brands are you referring to?

If I was you I would build it piece by piece. Thats assuming you didnt hurt the head. I have a used cyliinder that could use plated iff you interested id sell it for $25. Then get you a crank and a piston and you wouldnt have all that much in it. now if you woulfd need a head that would be a diff story.

by the looks of this kit. id say its a matter of just taking apart my motor. pressing bearings and the crank and putting it back together with the new parts? and putting it back together properly. am i right or is this kit going to be way more work then i think?

And how much difference would I notice between like a 470 big bore and the 508 stroker. Is it worth it to get into the bottom end if i don't have too

What kind of riding are you mainly planning on doing? MX, XC, Dunes, trail riding, or drag?

Mainly just trail riding. Ideally just wanted good competition for my roommates 2011 raptor.

Hell if that's the case just get you a good exhaust, do the cam mod, put the motor back to stock but use a 06 or newer crank that way it's a true 450. Get you a 12.5:1 compression piston to pick up a little more. Do the oil mod while you have it apart, and if you want to pick you up an FCI. That's all you need to take care of the raptor.

Well should I even bother getting into the crank or just do the Athena kit and cam mod and oil mod?

I would swap in a newer model crank there is a noticable difference in the two in my opinion.

Ok thanks for your opinion. I'm going to get it apart and see exactly what's I'm dealing with.
