Question 04-06 "oil problem"

Ok so I'm thinking about buying a yfz450...I can either get an 04 for 2500 or an 08 for 3500

I like the 04 better cause it's white and looks fresh but I keep hearing about these "oil problems"...

I'm a very moderate rider...ride a lot of trails and do some minor hill climbs....do these "oil problems" only effect people who race or is it pretty bad even for the most lay back rider?

The oil mod puts a nozzle in that oils the wrist pin properly to prevent it from seizing up. The other benefit on the 08 that's not been mentioned is better shocks, better seat, and the 04-05 had some serious electrical issues.

Personaly I perfer the 04 seat over the newer years. The 08 shocks are a little better but not by much imo. I have 2 04s and 2 05s with no electricle problems at all. I would get the 04 because you could do alot to it with the extra $1,000. I have a complete ready to bolt on and go 07 side case with oil squirter in very good condition. $100 shipped priority mail.
